A few reviews ago, I checked out an old Zolda figure from the R&M series and I was taken abreast on how today's figures have developed since. Clearly, simple articulation is not enough for those who have discriminating taste which I think I may have been one when I started collecting kamen rider figures again. I was so excited to get my SHF Kamen Rider Zolda I'm eager to compare what has transpired over the years.
The S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Zolda follows the same box design as previous Ryuki-based figures on the same line. This time, the size is between Ouja's and Ryuki's.
As the fourth SHF Ryuki-based figure, Kamen Rider Zolda continues to employ the same joints seen on previous Ryuki rider which I mentioned many times that I love. The toy has the same leg and feet engineering that allows more stability and same seamless ankle joints that hides behind the boot. The added feature are the flaps on the shoulder pads that allow more room for the arms to stretch. Finally, the "plugs" that are on the arms and legs on Zolda do not fall off easily as past releases.
There are parts of Zolda that are in die-cast that enable more stability in carrying those massive weapons.
Zolda has three weapons mainly the MagnaVisor, Gigacannon and GigaLauncher. With this, Zolda only has 4 advent cards to match the weapons count. These are 2 shoot vents, 1 final vent and 1 advent card. Even with its size, the cards are surprisingly legible, if you have perfect vision.
And he also has 10 hands included in the set. Both cannons are made from light weight plastic that allow Zolda to carry these without the use of a Tamashii Stand. Also, both cannons are painted in metallic green making these weapons in sync with other Ryuki figures.
The GigaCannon has a few joints just like how the R&M Magnugiga's legs would move. When mounted on Zolda, you may need additional support, this is where the small black peg is handy that can be plugged under the cannons so that a Tamashii Stage can be inserted.
The GigaLauncher also has a pair of large claws on the back and when spread out, more fantastic design is revealed.
For easy storage there is another plug that you can use to insert the MagnaVisor, this would act as a holster for the gun. Just like other gimmicks, you can insert the card in just like what it does on the show.
Even without the complete set of armaments to create Magugiga, the details and the playability of SHF Zolda compensates well and is a good buy nonetheless.
