What Happened to These SHF Prototypes?

S.H. Figuarts line up has been booming and blooming year after year clearing are bank accounts, making online enemies or friends and sprung a lot of toy reviewers who wants to take a bite of the action. We are witnesses on the development of this line which opened space to more anime and toku characters such as Super Sentai genre. Speaking of which, once was limited to Asia distribution have allowed the company to reach other markets clamoring these toys like the United States.

The annual Tamashii Nations festival was a testament that S.H. Figuarts is one of the sought after toy expo showcasing upcoming figures and prototypes sure to make any fan drool. I did.

But after the course of two to three years, there are many prototypes that were actually released or sold and there some may have drowned into the abyss and we may never hear of any developments. Even after 3 Tamashii Nations events have passed we still don't know the release dates of these. I could only think of Kamen Rider-related figures as of the moment and here are some of the prototypes that until now, we still have no clue on what transpired.

1. S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Saga. Kamen Rider Saga is a Kiva-based rider with a stained-glass feature on his chest holding a Jacorder. This figure was presented during the 2010 Tamashii Nation and now its already 2012, we never heard of him since. Even we are painstakingly waiting for the SHF Kiva to come out, some fans are already ready to take Saga to add to the increasing collection. When I first saw this, I was really excited because he does look awesome with the rest of my Kiva collection. Whatever reason why Bandai is holding this figure back, we hope to see him again soon, maybe with a better design than this.

2. S.H. Figuarts Auto Vajin - This was shown together with the S.H. Figuarts Faiz and Blaster Form. It was sensible back then for Bandai to release Auto Vajin since the most of the Faiz toys that we previously released somehow automatically included this robot/bike in the mix. It is like an unwritten rule when you release a Faiz toy. We have a lot of toy versions of Auto Vajin already from RHS to RAH but alas still no SHF.

3. S.H. Figuarts Revolgarry (or I thought it was) - Ok, when I first saw this I was really adamant that Bandai would really release an SHF version of this. Look how big it is compared with the SHF Hardboilder. It may stuff the bike's other forms but I bet this would be sold ridiculously like some hard-to-find Soul of Chogokins. If not, this will cost more than your Tamashii Collectors Shop exclusives. How will you store this anyway?

4. S.H. Figuarts Accel Gunner - In the height of the series, S.H Figuarts Kamen Rider W figures were I guess the most popular against other released SHFs. If there would be a Revolgarry, it makes sense too that the Accel Gunner would also be included in the SHF line. I think that this wasn't popular when it was first seen during the event that's why Bandai didn't pursue in producing one. It is one of those prototypes that almost got into the hands of some oily collectors.Or maybe a poor business decision if this was created. We will never know.

I bet there are a lot of toys during previous Tamashii Nations events that didn't make the cut to be produced for the masses. Maybe Bandai is reserving this for another year, but for whatever the reason maybe these could have contributed to the depletion of our measly atm accounts.
