Toy Review: S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Stronger

Let's go back to 1975 with the S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Stronger. I'm kinda amped up as we get more showa riders in the mix. Besides, how hard is it really for Bandai to create old school riders anyway? There are just a few and without secondary riders.

The box art for Stronger, in my opinion strikes as classy. It is a black box with images of the titular character printed in front and at the back of the carton without the photo fading on it. Not a lot of details but this look will suffice.

This figure has 6 hands, a muffler and the three-layered effects part. Refer to the video below on how these effect parts come together. Aside from this, I realized that you can also use the effects part on Stronger's legs by just following the same instructions as you do with the his arm. This formula is not listed on the instruction manual but this is possible.

The figure's paint application is clean but I have qualms on some joints. First, leaning the head forwards has limitation because of huge "S" accent wrapped around his upper torso. The edges have moveable shoulder parts but honestly doesn't help in easing its movement.

Overall, design wise, Stronger's replica in S.H. Figuarts form is at best the nearest mold so far. But following such design will have small articulation flaw but that wouldn't deter you in purchasing this figure. It is paying homage to the late great Shigeru Araki if you have purchased already. If you ask me, this is also when S.I.C. trumps over SHF in terms of design and playability. More to this on the video below.
